Since the organization’s inception, Our Time kids have been writing and performing original music to share their life experiences, perspectives, and a message of universal acceptance to live audiences in NYC and beyond.
On June 23rd, 2009, after 8 years of songwriting and 2 years of recording Our Time will release a landmark album, Listen, that will serve as an instrument of hope, inspiration, and understanding for people from all over the world. This album will present 15 original songs written by the Our Time kids under the guidance of Musical Director Everett Bradley. While the Our Time kids’ supporting vocals are an essential presence on each song, Pop and Broadway stars have contributed lead vocals on each track to champion the often-silenced voices of youth who stutter. Participating artists who have donated their time and talent include Blue Man Group, Holly Brook, Ann Hampton Callaway, Michael Cerveris, John Forte, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Adriane Lenox, Norm Lewis, Kelli O’Hara, Adam Pascal, Mandy Patinkin, Anthony Rapp, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Sherie Rene Scott, Duncan Sheik, Carly Simon, STOMP, Mary Testa, Michelle Weeks, Lucy Woodward, and original cast members from Spring Awakening.
Fulfilling the organization’s mission, this album project has afforded Our Time’s participants with many incredible opportunities. The experience has given them a chance to express their artistic voices, work with notable artists, and record in state-of-the-art facilities such as the personal recording studios of Jon Bon Jovi and Philip Glass. The process has given each participant an increased sense of pride in themselves and has illustrated their vast capabilities despite their challenges with stuttering.
All proceeds from the album will go directly towards funding Our Time’s vital work with youth who stutter.

The Album Project
The Album Project exists as an outlet for the music of the company to be developed and honed beyond the confines of the rehearsal room or the transience of the stage.
Every season Our Time company members write original songs. The Album Project serves to periodically collect and record these songs in a professional recording studio, under the guidance of Musical Director Everett Bradley. The first title to be produced as part of the Our Time Album Project was Our Time Our Songs (2003), on which all songs were written and sung by Our Time teen company members.
Our Time's Album Project expands upon the basic singing, songwriting, and drumming skills learned in the Teen and Pre-Teen Play Programs, and at Camp Our Time. It is open not only to regular company members but also alumni and young people who attend Camp Our Time. The Album Project is truly unique because it gives young people the special experience of being in a recording studio and learning about the various technical aspects of making an album. Each young participant receives credit for their work as songwriters/performers on the album. The final product gives each kid an increased sense of pride in their art, and they often bring the album into their schools or play it for their families and friends with a heightened sense of accomplishment.
In addition to the positive impact that the Album Project has on each child, it also further educates people about what stuttering is while spreading Our Time's message of universal acceptance.
